At first glance, I understand the assumptions.<\/p>\n

Raven hair. Red lipstick. A little vintage glamour. A penchant for beautiful lingerie, fabulous heels, candlelit restaurants, and disappearing into lovely hotels.<\/p>\n

The photographs may suggest femme fatale.<\/p>\n

And she certainly exists.<\/p>\n

But spend a little time with me and another character begins to emerge.<\/p>\n

Apparently, the femme fatale has the personality of a golden retriever.<\/p>\n

The Plot Twist<\/strong><\/p>\n

I love glamour, but I don\u2019t take myself terribly seriously.<\/p>\n

I laugh\u2014a lot. I ask questions. I get excited about obscure subjects. I can wander through an art museum for hours and genuinely want to know the story behind the painting.<\/p>\n

I love psychology and human behavior. I\u2019m intrigued by spirituality and theology\u2014not as abstract systems alone, but as living attempts to answer the oldest human question: what does it mean to be held by something larger than ourselves?<\/p>\n

I write, sketch, watercolor, and routinely disappear down intellectual rabbit holes simply because something made me curious.<\/p>\n

And I have a particular fondness for ritual.<\/p>\n

Not in the rigid sense, but in the way ritual creates meaning out of ordinary time: lighting a candle before I write, pausing before a meal, stepping into a bath as if crossing a threshold, or the quiet discipline of prayer that is less about performance and more about attention.<\/p>\n

There is something deeply human about marking the invisible.<\/p>\n

Theology, in My Language<\/strong><\/p>\n

I am drawn to theology the way some people are drawn to poetry.<\/p>\n

Not because I always seek answers, but because I am fascinated by the architecture of longing.<\/p>\n

The idea that love might be foundational rather than incidental.<\/p>\n

That attention itself could be a form of devotion.<\/p>\n

That the sacred might not always announce itself in thunder, but in stillness, in breath, in the way light falls across a room at dusk.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t claim certainty. I am more interested in reverence than resolution.<\/p>\n

And I often think: perhaps prayer is simply sustained attention without distraction.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m a Romantic in the Smallest Ways<\/strong><\/p>\n

Grand gestures are lovely, but I\u2019ve always been more interested in the tiny things.<\/p>\n

Remembering what you told me.<\/p>\n

Sending you something because it reminded me of you.<\/p>\n

Knowing your favorite cocktail.<\/p>\n

Writing a love note on a Post-it.<\/p>\n

Asking about the thing you mentioned weeks ago because I actually remember how important it was to you.<\/p>\n

These are, in their own way, small rituals of care.<\/p>\n

Not unlike liturgy\u2014repeated acts that say: you are not forgotten here.<\/p>\n

Attention is one of the purest forms of affection.<\/p>\n

I Will Absolutely Ask About Your Dog<\/strong><\/p>\n

This deserves disclosure early.<\/p>\n

I am hopelessly devoted to my little Pomeranian, and animals have a rather embarrassing ability to dismantle whatever sophisticated persona I may have been maintaining.<\/p>\n

Show me a photograph of your dog and there is a very real possibility our conversation is temporarily over.<\/p>\n

I have priorities.<\/p>\n

If theology teaches anything here, it is perhaps humility: that all grand abstractions collapse instantly in the presence of a small, beloved creature.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m More Interested in Connection Than Perfection<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is something almost sacramental that happens when two people stop trying to impress one another.<\/p>\n

The shoulders come down.<\/p>\n

The conversation gets better.<\/p>\n

Someone says something unexpectedly vulnerable or completely ridiculous.<\/p>\n

We laugh.<\/p>\n

And suddenly we\u2019re no longer two people trying to orchestrate a perfect encounter. We\u2019re simply present.<\/p>\n

That kind of presence feels, to me, like a kind of secular grace.<\/p>\n

Chemistry can\u2019t be demanded, scheduled, or manufactured. But you can create the conditions for it: curiosity, warmth, generosity, humor, attention, and enough time to allow two people to settle into themselves.<\/p>\n

The Woman Behind the Photograph<\/strong><\/p>\n

I think people sometimes expect sensual women to exist in only one dimension.<\/p>\n

But sensuality, at least for me, has never been separate from everything else.<\/p>\n

It lives beside creativity.<\/p>\n

Curiosity.<\/p>\n

Empathy.<\/p>\n

Playfulness.<\/p>\n

A slightly overdeveloped sentimental streak.<\/p>\n

And a quiet, almost devotional attention to the world.<\/p>\n

My love of art, books, beautiful spaces, long conversations, being near the water, taking care of my body, and curling up with my dog.<\/p>\n

The same woman who loves getting dressed for an exquisite evening also loves the moment when the heels come off and everyone can finally relax.<\/p>\n

Perhaps that\u2019s what I\u2019ve grown to appreciate most about getting older: I don\u2019t feel particularly compelled to choose between these versions of myself anymore.<\/p>\n

I can be sophisticated and silly.<\/p>\n

Sensual and nurturing.<\/p>\n

Mysterious and extraordinarily easy to talk to.<\/p>\n

The woman in the photograph and the woman laughing five minutes later are both me.<\/p>\n

A Confession<\/strong><\/p>\n

So yes, the femme fatale is real.<\/p>\n

She likes perfume, beautiful dresses, lingering eye contact, candlelight, and just enough mystery to keep things interesting.<\/p>\n

But she is also, in her own way, ritualistic about care.<\/p>\n

She remembers.<\/p>\n

She notices.<\/p>\n

She returns.<\/p>\n

She pays attention.<\/p>\n

And she is probably going to ask you questions that feel less like interrogation and more like invitation\u2014make you laugh, show you a picture of her dog, and genuinely hope you leave feeling a little more seen than when you arrived.<\/p>\n

Consider the femme fatale the invitation.<\/p>\n

The golden retriever is who answers the door.<\/p>\n
